Save Power by Skipping the Screen Saver

Maybe you already knew this, but I was sure surprised when I read that screen savers do nothing to help you save power. In fact, your computer actually uses more power just to run the screen saver software.

When it comes to computers, the best route, in terms of money saving tips, is to set your computer so that it goes into sleep mode after 10 or so minutes of inactivity. Make sure your monitor is also set to go into sleep mode as they can also use a lot of power.

While I’m not about to go without my computer, there are ways to make these technological tools more frugal living friendly. Oh, and don’t forget to turn your computer off when you’re done with it!
