Are you one
of the lucky people that, every now and again, break out with a big patch of
fever blisters on their lips or around their mouth? If you’ve had these
annoying and often itchy or painful little blisters before, you probably felt
the tell-tale tingling or itching sensation right before the blisters reared
their ugly little heads. The next time you feel this sensation, and you know
the fever blisters are coming, give these natural remedies a try and forget the
pharmacy ointments.
To help prevent or treat fever blisters, tea tree oil and lemon balm can be used as effective natural remedies because of their great antiviral and antiseptic properties. You can either dab a few drops of either tea tree oil or lemon balm straight onto the affected area or mix with a little bit of cooking oil first. Keep in mind that tea tree oil doesn’t taste very good so resist the urge to lick your lips when treating the fever blisters.
Both tea tree oil and lemon balm are excellent for frugal living as they are inexpensive to buy, can be used in a large number of different natural remedies and are readily available at local health food stores. They can be used as great natural remedies for cold sores too. Keep a bottle of each of these ingredients in your cupboard and be prepared to treat for fever blisters or cold sores, any time.
Remember, fever blisters are in the herpes family and are, as such, very contagious. Avoid touching your fever blisters with your hand or to anyone else for that matter.
